What the Planets Say...

Ever since meeting the venerable Henry Wiengarten at the annual Triple Gold Conference in New York early in 2008, I have taken quite an interest in how the movements of the planets affect what happens here on earth. Many people dismiss this as pure bunk, but as a person whose University education is in the field of Engineering, I am convinced that planetary motion does exert pushes and pulls on the earth as it rotates about in the Universe along with the planets. We humans are merely objects made up largely of water and carbon, both of which are easily influenced by electrical forces and gravitational forces. We humans are the ones who influence the markets with our buying and selling decisions on a day by day basis. Hence, by watching how the planets interact with each other, we can get a sense of what to expect.
Now, don't think for a minute that you can use this planetary stuff to predict market behaviour from minute to minute, day to day and trade S&P futures with it. Until I see more compelling evidence, I will simply continue to use astrology to examine the bigger degree trends.

From the Sun, outwards we have the orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.

When 2 planets are in Opposition to each other, their longitudes differ by 180 degrees.

Two planets worthy of note are Saturn and Uranus, especially when they are in Opposition to each other.

Saturn and Uranus were in Opposition during the period 1918 to 1920. This was a monumental period in history. World War 1 ended, the British empire faded, the US empire started and the economy started a powerful recovery.

These 2 planets were again in Opposition in the period 1965 to 1967. Again, a monumental period. The US was getting deeply embroiled in the Vietnam War, Arab-Israeli conflict moved to the fore, inflation took root and financial markets carved out a multi-year peak.

Starting in November 2008 ( Nov 4th to be exact ), these 2 planets will be spending time in Opposition on and off again. This will continue through to July 2010.

After that, we will not see these planets in Opposition until the period 2050-2057.

So, what to expect? Well, for sure we are in some negative times so we can expect big, negative energy outcomes. Already we are getting a hint of what cometh with the news that Freddie Mac and sister Fannie Mae are being nationalized. This represents a major change in the workings of the financial markets and poses a major threat to the stability of the US Dollar. The very fact that the US election falls one day prior to a date when these planets will spend time in Opposition says we should expect major political change. I say an Obama victory is in the offing. And lastly, look for extreme volatility in financial markets and in fact volatility on the global stage in general. In previous blogs I have written of a potential Israeli attack in Iran and social upheaval in China and efforts by Russia to establish an empire. Author Harry Dent is writing of the impact of baby boomer retirement on the markets ( it ain't pretty )and many market watchers are pointing to major market cycles that will be manifesting themselves over the next couple years. The next 2 years will see life altering events. Brace yourself.

There are many other planetary motions that can influence behaviour on a shorter scale. In future blogs I shall be alluding to these other planets. Stay tuned....and be careful out there...
